Oh my Laney. Even though I have four kids, she still seems to end up getting the short end of the stick, or middle child syndrome. I don’t know why it always happens, but it does. She is so special though, so I thought I would share 5 things about Delaney, just so she can have some time in the spotlight!
Normally I photoshop it out, but Delaney has a scar by her left eye which she got after a crazy incident involving an escalator. We were in the mall with Afton and Vivienne, and I was heavily pregnant with Charli at the time, and the girls all needed to use the bathroom. In the middle of Macy’s, I took the girls to the escalator, never having had a problem with them before. Needless to say, for some crazy reason, both Vivienne and Delaney decided to freak out, and I ended up having to grab a falling Delaney while pushing up a screaming Vivienne. Everyone was screaming, and the whole store was running straight towards us. Delaney cracked the side of her head on the escalator step and was bleeding like crazy, while I was completely mortified, looking like I had no business taking care of kids, ha ha ha. Oh my, it was crazy.
Delaney is obsessed with her baby sister. She wants to spend all her time hugging her, throwing pillows on her (Charli LOVES that), feeding her, playing with her and just generally taking care of her. I don’t think she’d care if her other sisters disappeared, so long as she can keep Charli.
Delaney struggles with terrible eczema. It covers her legs and arms, and recently, while we were in San Antonio, her face broke out with eczema as well. It’s so hard seeing her poor skin so red and scaly and not be able to fix it. We’ve been switching from medicine to cream to prescription and back again to try to get it under control, but it seems as soon as it starts going away in one place, it pops up in another.
Twirly dresses and skirts are Laney’s favorite. Everyone assumes, by her haircut, that she’s more of a Tomboy, but that’s hardly the case here. Bring on the frills, the dolls, the pink and purple, and all the makeup too. Her favorite outfits come from FabKids, like the one she’s wearing in these photos. It suits her style perfectly with the frilly skirt, gold polka dots and the roll on tee shirt. I got her a super cute Malibu skirt with a pink tee before we left for San Antonio, and it’s just the cutest thing ever, I love it. They also have the cuuuuuutest shoes, seriously. The color block flats are my personal favorite, as well as Laney’s. I think we have good taste, yup.
Delaney is the only kid with brown eyes and dark brown hair. All of her sisters have varying shades of blue eyes and lighter brown to blonde hair. We kid that she’s the only real Mexican of the bunch, but I’m pretty sure her sisters will be jealous of her hair when they get older, since they, unfortunately, inherited my hair, ha ha ha. Laney has Rudy’s hair, and it’s perfect.
