Now that I’m living in San Antonio, I find myself spending a lot of time at family gatherings with the in-laws, of which there are many, and these gatherings are nothing short of a smorgasbord of homemade, divine eats. The way we eat here is far different from how we ate in Phoenix, as well as Minnesota, which could easily be because of the nature of each culture: me being Swedish and my husband Mexican. We just do everything differently, though the end result is always the same: a great time had by all. In the spirit of all these gatherings and the many more to come, I’ve been working on developing new recipes, like this Cowboy Bacon Burger Dip, so I can come prepared with fresh eats instead of boring, overused oldies.
This recipe came out so well that I may include it in my Christmas recipe lineup. It’s fast, full of flavor, and perfect as an appetizer or a midday snack. I usually don’t start prepping for the holidays until after Halloween, but I’m stepping up my game in the name of having a stress-free, delicious Christmas, so it’s good to start playing around now, and no one is complaining about being a taste-tester. You want to come over and give this a try?
Ingredients
- ½ lb. Lean Ground Beef
- 16 oz. Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt
- ½-1 Packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dip
- ½ C Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits
- ½ C Shredded Cheese
- Kosher Salt to Taste
- Cracked Black Pepper to Taste
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, breaking apart the meat into small pieces as it browns. Sprinkle with salt and pepper while cooking, then drain the excess fat.
- Mix in the greek yogurt, bacon bits and cheese and add the ranch dip seasoning slowly, starting with ½ of the packet. Stir well until thoroughly combined.
- Taste the mixture then begin adding more of the seasoning packet as needed to increase the tang of the ranch flavor. Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper to taste, garnish with some extra bacon bits and serve warm with tortilla chips.

I love the tangy flavor of the ranch in this Cowboy Bacon Burger Dip, but I know for some it might be a little strong, which is why I recommend starting with a ½ packet of seasoning and building up from there. Use a light touch with the salt as well, because the bacon bits have a great salty taste so they will season the dip a lot on their own.
My mouth might be watering right now, because I totally want some more. Right now. At 3am. Yum.
