Creating original content is hard work, no matter what your niche is. It’s a time-consuming process to write a single post; for me running a good 3 hours or more (leaning towards the more side with my slow computer), between brainstorming an idea, purchasing what I need to actualize the idea, staging, photographing, editing, writing, and then promoting. It’s a feat in and of itself and it all starts in one place: my head. But oh! it doesn’t really start there. Well, kind of. But how am I finding inspiration for my recipes?
Inspiration is everywhere!
OK, I admit, that sounds a little cliche, but it so true. Take, for instance, my favorite little Greek restaurant, Demos. When I moved from San Antonio, I lost the amazing flavor of their homemade Greek dressing. It was the best dressing ever. And since I couldn’t seem to find a place that served me a dressing with the same flavor combinations and ratios, I set out on the task to create it for myself. And I did! I did the same thing to create my homemade pumpkin spice latte, because I wanted something more convenient (I never leave the house, I swear), and a
little lot healthier than the cafe version. Being inspired by the things I taste is huge for me!
I also find inspiration on TV, watching the cooking segments on my local news stations, or shows like MasterChef, The Chew, and Man vs. Food. Just watching how people make interesting dishes, especially when using foods I am not as comfortable with, inspires me to start experimenting in the kitchen!
I also get a ton of inspiration just sitting around reading a magazine while drinking my favorite cup of coffee! Although it may be fall, I am seriously enjoying Coffee-mate‘s two newest flavors: Abuelita Mexican Chocolate and La Lechera Dulce de Leche, which add a great Latin flavor to my morning routine and get my mind ready to create something amazing! Have you ever tried Abuelita Mexican Chocolate before? My husband has made it for the kids and me before, and I have to say that Coffee-mate definitely nailed it on the head with their flavor, because the silky, rich, slightly cinnamony taste provides an authentic coffee experience. Yum. It’s impossible not to fall in love with these flavors, especially when Coffee-mate has perfected it’s taste to bring out the flavor in your coffee.
It leaves me feeling inspired all day long! Fiesta!
