I play with my food! Woo! You heard it here first, folk, and that is the gospel truth! Yes, I play with my food, and I have a blast. I mean, seriously, who doesn’t have fun making silly pictures in mashed potatoes, building forests out of broccoli and turning zucchini into Viking ships? It’s an essential part of being a kid, and of being a well-adjusted adult. Yup.
I grabbed a pantry staple to make this fun little piece of food art: California Ripe Olives! They are the perfect ingredient for food art creations, as well as for snacking. Yum. I made this little kid flying away with some balsamic reduction and California Ripe Olives, which the flipped for and promptly ate most of my pretty little olive balloons. Sad face.
What I really love about California Ripe Olives, other than the fact that they are grown in California (ha!), is that they are grown on multi-generational family farms! And from all those farms they arrive at two different family-owned canneries. That’s a lot of olives in one place, crazy!
What’s your favorite meal to use California Ripe Olives with? Me? I’m a very classic connoisseur, so I love to top my taco salads with a nice-sized portion of sliced olives.
