As the family dinner comes back into style (which, by the way, never should have not been in style, yo!), it still seems that it’s hard to keep everyone around the table for more than just quickly eating dinner and moving on to other things. There is homework, work work, chores, shows, sports, you name it. Life is busy!
One thing I have noticed over time is that when we get together as a large family, we have no problem chilling after eating, drinking a beer or two, and just having a blast. It’s effortless, and fun. But why don’t these situations play out over the everyday kitchen table?
This is the message, and the importance, of the Sombremesa Project.
Don’t run off as soon as dinner is over. Sit. Relax. Have a hot cup of NESCAFÉ Clásico, and just talk! There are so many things happening every single day within those packed schedules, but do we ever really just sit down and talk about all of them? I know I certainly don’t, and I have a pretty boring life myself.
It’s also a perfect way to reconnect with friends and loved ones. It’s low key, no pressure, and doesn’t require a DD. Who doesn’t love some coffee talk?
Get into the mood with my video!
We take the time to talk about the girls’ days while sipping our NESCAFÉ, and the girls are always eager to hang out and tell us all the cool things they’ve done at school. I also get the chance to reconnect with my husband after his day at work, and he with me about what’s going on in blogland. It’s a simple way to support the family, and keep the unit strong. When so many things are pulling at our attentions, it’s great to slow down and be together after dinner.
It’s the best part of the meal.
