You guys, I am beyond excited to be debuting a new feature: ASP Food Tours! I have this whole big picture plan in my head on how this is going to go. Clearly, I am starting local, because this is my home, and because there are so many amazing places to eat here in San Antonio. Like Burger Boy.
Back in 2008, I lived on Woodlawn, in this super old, but quaint, house, right across the street from a beautiful Methodist church. It was awesome living so close to downtown, and also super close to the mom and pop shop where I was a bartender. Back then, I was quite untethered, and I spent far more time bouncing from restaurant-to-restaurant to eat than making food myself. Oh the joys.
Being able to just wander my neighborhood, I came upon Burger Boy randomly one day. I mean, it’s hard to miss.
Burger Boy just so happens to be the home of the oldest rotating sign in the entire state of Texas. Kind of a big deal, yo. And you really should see it lit up at night. It’s epic.
The building itself is also epic. I think it’s a pitched-roof, but I always find myself calling it a cubed A-frame, because it has four points. Like a cube. But it’s also pointy, like an A-frame. I don’t know. I make up weird things sometimes. You know that’s how I do.
And can we take a moment to talk about that beauty of a vehicle right there? Because I was driving it, and it’s awesome.
Say hello to the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport GT AWC! To say I am obsessed is an understatement. I don’t think I have ever driven something so sophisticated. I mean, I didn’t even need a key! It has that super cool one-touch Start/Stop engine button, a full-color touch screen that has GPS (never get lost again, whoop!), and the most amazing panoramic glass roof. It has LED mood lighting, guys. HELLO. MOOD LIGHTING.
Maybe I’m super simple and easy to please, but that roof was easily my fave thing ever. I really hated giving this SUV back, so it’s kind of hanging out on my vehicle wishlist, because I must have this Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in my life. Foevuh.
And I mean, it might just be so it can take me back to Burger Boy.
One of the awesome things about Burger Boy is that it sources local meats and veggies. Every burger is so juicy and buttery and fresh and just zomg yummy. This is no fast food burger, you guys.
This lovely specimen is the Working Man. If you’re in the mood to eat, you’ve got a ½ pound of meat to tide you over. It’s a Double Burger Boy, amen. I’m most fond of the Bates Special, which is a regular Burger Boy. Get it all the way, every time. It’s the only way. Served with fries and a drink, I always recommend the Orange Freeze.
If you’re going to do this, you have to do it right, so heed those words, my friends!
There are few things better than a really good burger, am I right? So when you’re in San Antonio, be sure to head over to the iconic Burger Boy on St. Mary’s Street. It’s been worth it since 1965!

Killer burgers and a gorgeous ride? This sounds like a perfect day! And I love your “oldest rotating sign in the entire state of Texas” factoid. Very specific claims to fame are my favorite. 😉

What a fun place! We used to have originals like that where I grew up in Virginia. Here in Boca, it’s all Five Guys, Burger-Fi and Shake Shack … Plus Charm City Burger – which is a must go to. Haven’t had a burger in a while, now I’m hungry!

First of all, I need that burger like now. The bacon and cheese….
I love panoramic roof in the Outlander Sport! It really brightened up the whole car. I’m pretty sure it’s the cure to carsickness.
