You all know I love a good drink, especially a good drink with a fun and funky twist, like my Cranberry Mojito, and my Pomegranate Cosmo. Yum! Since I am such a big fan of pomegranate anything these days, I thought I would spike a traditional Moscow Mule to make a Pomegranate Moscow Mule. And boy oh boy does this drink deliver!
Most people are only familiar with the iconic copper mug when it comes to the Moscow Mule, and that’s OK. Sometimes it’s the cup that makes the drink, because I wouldn’t drink a martini in a wine glass, or a long island in a low ball, so I definitely can’t drink a Moscow Mule without a copper mug (which I grabbed at World Market, if you’re wondering)!
A basic Moscow Mule consists of just three ingredients: vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. Ginger beer itself is a non-alcoholic beverage, so you’ll find it with the NA beers. Don’t waste what will feel like hours trying to find it in the craft beers, like I did. That was a special day, indeed. Learn to ask for help, Karly, please. Since ginger beer is fermented, it has a much stronger ginger flavor than ginger ale, and is less carbonated as well. Don’t even think about using ginger ale instead, just don’t do it. It’s a disservice to this amazing drink.
I love the flavor combination of pomegranate with the ginger beer and lime juice. It’s has a nice spiciness to it while still being sweet, without being overwhelming. It might be my new fave cocktail, though I always have a hard time deciding. It depends on the day, really. Today is definitely a Pomegranate Moscow Mule day. Definitely.
Ready to make this bad boy? You’ll be hooked in no time!
