DIY Paper Flowers Tutorial

I am so excited to share this tutorial with you all today.
Seriously, it was so much fun to do and looks great decorating my house. If you checked out my instagram yesterday, you probably have an idea of what I’m sharing. If not, well, you’re going to find out right now!

These DIY paper flowers are so easy to make, it’s almost ridiculous. I made a bouquet out of them, so I am going to show the complete process, from start to finish.
To make a paper flower bouquet you need:
Colored Cardstock Paper
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue Sticks
Floral Stakes
Vase
Pencil (optional)

Depending on the size of your paper, you could fold it a few times and cut it into squares. You need squares.
Take your scissors and cut out a spiral from your square piece of paper.

Evenness is not needed, and kind of ruins the effect, so just cut and cut and cut. You could use a pencil to draw out a spiral first, but I just wing it. I live dangerously in the craft world, yo.

Begin rolling up the spiral, starting from the outside.
It’s very important to start from the outside, it won’t work if you start from the middle.

Roll it up tightly, all the way til you reach the end.

Fold the last rounded section of the spiral across the bottom of the flower and then release your grip on the whole thing, allowing it to spread back out into a pretty blossom!
At this point I went ahead and made all the other flowers I need for my bouquet. Once I’d finished that, I moved on to the next step: glue.

Take the hot glue and place a dollop of it on the flat circle on the bottom and press the flower into it, sealing it into place.

After the glue hardens, I started gluing the floral stakes to the bottom of the flowers. This process can get a little precarious, because the sticks do not want to stand on their own, so I had to balance them against a wall to harden. I lost two of them behind the dresser in the process. It was sad.
Once the glue has dried and is nice and hard, you are ready to make your bouquet!

All you need to do for that is get your vase, and plop in the flowers until you are happy with its look!

Now it’s your turn! Go make your own paper flower bouquet and then show me your work! I would love love love to see it!

And as always, if you have any questions, please do let me know!

Can I just say what a comfort to discover someone that truly understands
what they are talking about over the internet.
You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important.

More people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story.
I can’t believe you’re not more popular given that you surely possess the gift.

I love paper; especially old. Think I am enamored of aging paper, the hundred-years-old-era going forward from which we inherited greeting card graphics, “ladies” magazine illustrations (I ‘m about to faint) what a joy common & not so common paper gives people; a way to hold history & evidence the way we lived & what we love. What if we had no paper, with its texture, the colors, brilliant, fading, different. I hope we will keep it no matter what technology makes possible in the future. I think your paper flowers are sweet and beautiful. It’s THAT hot where you live? I bought a itsy new house in Surprise. My spouse will die in the heat. It’s amazing but the house actually has a personality, yet it was built last year.
I hope that you keep gifting the world with your talent! (I’m tired; I forgot my password, silly me . Jmcicool@aol.com) I will be watching for more outstanding greatness from you!)
