Genetic Portraits Part I

Some time ago I saw an article about a man named Ulric Collette who created a series of what he called Genetic Portraits.

When I saw them I was totally stunned.
Seriously, coolest thing ever.
To see how different or how much the same we are from our mothers, fathers, siblings or cousins was extremely interesting.

Not sure what I’m talking about? Check out the Genetic Portraits HERE.

Although my girls are still awfully young, I decided to try creating my own Genetic Portrait with Delaney, who I always thought was the most different from myself.

Maybe not so much after all?

I can’t wait to do this with my other girls, and then again as we all get older.[spacer height=”20px”]

You know, except for the part where I have all the wrinkles.[spacer height=”20px”]
Though, in this photo I am wearing zero makeup and other than a rouge zit I healed, I think I look pretty damn good if I do say so myself. #notahumblebrag[spacer height=”20px”]

It’s probably because I have zero expression on my face. Usually I have a ton of lines on my forehead and a big puffy vein sticking out in the middle. That vein grosses me out. It was never there until I had kids, I swear. It pulsates when I’m angry too, which is not only gross, but freaks me out. I have visions where it just bursts out of my face and I die. It’s sad. I don’t want to die that way.[spacer height=”20px”]
So, now that I have rambled on and probably scared you all, how about we get to the part where you link up and say hi and I come visit you and say hi back?[spacer height=”20px”]

Yeah, let’s do that!

This was super fun, and I worked on ones of the other girls and me, but this one with Delaney turned out the best! Now I think I am going to do them of the girls together and see how that looks!

That’s an interesting idea. I can see why you didn’t think you two looked that much alike, but when you put yourselves together, it does change one’s perspective. Thanks for visiting Amanda’s Books and More!

Thanks Tina! I did ones with the other girls and they definitely didn’t come out nearly as good as the one with Laney! Next I’m going to do the girls together and see how that looks!

Not at all! The creator, Ulric, did this with both his son and daughter, and if I remember correctly, a sister too! It was really cool to see the similarities in the different genders!

That would be so neat to do with multiple generations! Do all of your girls have eyes the colour of Delaney’s? It is always interesting to me how eye colours happen….I have hazel eyes, my husband has blue eyes and our daughter has green eyes!

Yes! I want to do this with my mom when she comes to visit next and compare her to myself as well as my daughters! My first daughter, Afton, has blue/green/hazel eyes, Delaney’s are the golden brown, Vivi’s eyes are like super pale blue, and so far Charlotte’s eyes are a dark blue!

That is neat! I did that once with my Grandma who passed away when my Dad was 2. I put her photo and Photoshopped it on top of my own. It was creepy cool. Especially since she was passed on.

I saw this on others blogs in the linky part and thought it was a very cute person (as in one of your children). When I got to your blog and noticed the details and read what concept was, I was a bit freaked out, to be honest. But it’s October. It is the time to be around freakish things, right? I just see your beautiful photos on the side and don’t seem to have too much into the genetic ones, for now anyway. LOL Ya, lets just do the part when we say nice things to each other. ok? ok. LOL
